NOTES: The Christmas list is one of about two shout-outs to the making of The Nightmare Before Christmas. I remembered hearing in the commentary that Santa’s naughty/nice list in that movie was a long, thin sheet of painted lead or aluminum foil so that it could bounce and curl like real paper in frame-by-frame. This is wired ribbon with the list drawn on in pen.
I always had the list in mind for a perspective shot, to demonstrate just how insanely long it is. And it is in fact longer—the rest of it is folded up behind Conky.
Floory was originally to have Conky’s line. But the toy version of Floory is the worst! I couldn’t poke him up in a convincing way and have him visible in close-up.
PW's envelope does give an address for himself and for Santa. Santa lives at "1 Kris Kringle Way, The North Pole;" PW lives at "123 Playhouse Lane, Puppetland, USA 90230," which is the ZIP code for Culver City, CA. where Pee-Wee's Playhouse had its studio at the time.
